Motorsport UK is the national membership organisation and governing body for four-wheel motorsport in the UK, representing competitors, volunteers, clubs and fans. Weald Motor Club is a club which is governed by Motorsport UK.
The Association of South Eastern Motor Clubs is one of 13 Regional Associations recognised by Motorsport UK. These Regional Associations allow Motorsport UK to provide guidance and support to clubs, and also allow clubs to provide feedback to Motorsport UK.
The Association of Eastern Motor Clubs is one of thirteen Regional Associations created by Motorsport UK for the purpose of co-ordinating motor sport affairs in their respective areas and to act as a link between Motorsport UK and Motor Clubs. AEMC Clubs run motorsport events including stage rallies, road rallies, targa rallies, sprints, autotests, autosolos, car trials, and autocross in Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire.
The Association of South West Motor Clubs was formed 60 years ago in 1957, with the aim of supporting local motor clubs and safeguarding their interests and activities through group representation to the (then) RAC Competition Department. They were not the first regional association, as similar ones had been established in the North in 1948 and the Midlands in the early 1950s.
At the start, the association had just 21 member clubs and this has risen steadily to 87 in 2018, making the ASWMC one of the largest and most active MSUK Regional Associations in the country. 1960 saw the introduction of Road Rally Championship which, as far as we can tell, was the first properly constructed and recognised Regional Association Championship in the country.
They now run 12 different Championships and have close to 250 contenders each year, with multiple registrations pushing the number of championship registrants each year over the 300 mark. The efforts and skill of our contenders are celebrated at the annual ASWMC awards presentation in the New Year following the end of the championship season.
